STOP THE FRACK ATTACK RALLY & MARCH
On Saturday, July 28th, the Sierra Club joined with dozens of other organizations
in a coalition to organize a rally and march to Stop the Frack Attack.
Five thousand people rallied in Washington, D.C. to move our country towards a more
sustainable future where drilling for natural gas does not threaten our air and water.
Like you, these people have sent messages to President Obama, Congress, and the EPA
about their fracking concerns. This time, we did in person.

New Yorkers Against Fracking and our allies held
rallies and a call-in day across the state,
urging our senators to support a statewide ban on fracking:
ROCHESTER RALLY TO BAN FRACKING NOW!
Thursday, June 14, 1-2PM
2300 West Ridge Road, outside Senator Robach's office in Greece, NY 14626
The science is clear that nothing short of a ban on fracking will protect New Yorkers,
and it's time that our elected officials act in our best interests.
Air and water pollution from drilling can quickly spread to and
poison Rochester's food and water sheds.
We rallied outside Senator Joseph Robach's office and
asked him to support Bill S4220 to BAN fracking in New York State!

GLORIA BETLEM
THE FINGER LAKES: ABOVE AND BELOW
The Gallery at Wood Library, Canandaigua, NY
OPENING RECEPTION May 31, 6-8 PM
Livonia Artist and educator, Gloria Betlem, expresses her love of the Finger Lakes through her art in an exhibit which is being displayed around the region.
This unique body of work includes eleven paintings, one for each of the Finger lakes, integrating an aerial view with iconic and personal imagery related to each lake. Running below this work is a representation illustrating the geological beds and how injected fracking chemicals from horizontal hydraulic fracturing wells, travel through the shale beds and out into aquifer, water wells, lakes and rivers. Geologists and other specialists were Betlem's mentors to ensure the information was correct. The viewer can get a clear picture of the beauty our region holds, along with an understanding of what the consequences could be if fracking is allowed here. Other landscape paintings of the Finger Lakes will be included in her exhibit to round out the Finger Lakes experience.
