Of dire concern at this this time is Hyland's application to the DEC to allow a sizable increase in the tonnage accepted. The deadline for comments has been extended 2x since May and is now July 21, 2013. Please share this with your mailing list, etc. Participation during this comment period in the form of comments to the DEC and educating others on the matter is strongly requested. We also need you to request the DEC to hold a Public Hearing.
Many thanks,
Meg Krywe

DEC PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD ENDED 7/21/13
Hyland Landfill, the municipal solid waste landfill in Angelica, NY, managed by Cassella, has been accepting Marcellus Shale drill cuttings from PA for several years. They recently applied for an expansion in preparation for more fracking waste. Public comment period is open until July 21.
The Hyland Landfill is along the Genesee River which flows north into Lake Ontario. They want to take the most radioactive types of waste.
